THE SECOND TRILLION DOLLAR COMPANY - AMAZON

THE SECOND TRILLION DOLLAR COMPANY - AMAZON

The richest man on the earth today is Jeff Bezos who started an online business of selling books. To start his business he had to quit his jobs and bonus at D.E. Shaw. He started his company Amazon in a garage from nothing but with his wife's support. Amazon was earlier known as Cadabra but then he changed the name to Amazon after being convinced by his lawyer to change the name as it sounded similar to Cadaver. A company that started in 1995 as a website only sold books. However, the founder of the company, Jeff Bezos had a vision for the company's explosive growth and e-commerce domination.

It took him 24 years to reach at this momentum and during the 24 years he has had a strong vision to achieve his goal as he wanted Amazon to sell anything and everything and that is what it does now. The Journey from 1994 to 2018 was not easy. Amazon was once at the brink of bankruptcy. However, he managed to save his company from going bankrupt by closing distribution centres and he also laid of 14% of the Amazon workforce. His dream came true because of his and his employees hard work  as he expected them to work 60 hours per week. During his journey to make Amazon a trillion dollar company he never resisted to trying new things and taking risks as he believed that if you already know that something is going to work then it is not an experiment and you cannot invent knew things without experimenting.

Amazon is an exciting way to shop for books online, read books, publish, to power the internet and also to get deliveries. Amazon's market value is about 30 times higher than it was 10 years ago. Barclays once predicted that Amazon could be the first trillion dollar company and now it follows Apple as it has hit a market value of $1 trillion dollars on 4 September 2018. Even thought it was not the first to reach the milestone, it raced to the mark with greater speed.

So, Amazon is the second American company to hit the market value of 1 trillion dollars. If you did enjoy the video, hit the like button and don’t forget to share and subscribe to our channel.
